Knitting Journal: Knitted Christmas Toys

Picture of knitted Christmas soft toys

Today I thought I would share the knitted Christmas soft toys I knitted for my children.  These are so cute and knitted up quickly.  I knit my children something each year for Christmas, this Christmas I wasn't sure what to knit for them and then when I saw the pattern for these I decided to create them.

About the project

I decided to knit the owl but in browns as I had no cream yarn and had decided to use up my scrap bits of yarn to make these. I keep all scrap bits of yarn in a bag together and keep bits I cut off when stitching items up to another bag so I can use these as stuffing for toys for Children over 5 for safety reasons.  I knitted the owls stripy vest in red and green to make it a bit more Christmas like  then added a seed stitch scarf that was part of the Rudolph and penguin pattern but I thought it would like great on the owl.

I knitted one of my children Rudolph the previous year so decided to make my youngest a Rudolph this year.  While the pattern used a scarf I decided to finger knit a cord added a bell to it and tied it around Rudolph's neck like a collar.

My children loved these soft toys I knitted them for Christmas and have been sitting down hugging them to listen to Christmas stories, Christmas movies.  Next year I might knit the Robin and Penguin that are also part of the pattern.  What did you knit as gifts for Christmas?
