Welcome to what's that stitch series! Purl ridges creates ridges of purl stitches in an easy 4 row repeat. Learn what sand stitch is, how to do and a few project ideas for using this stitch.


What is purl ridges?


Purl ridges creates little bumps of purl stitches along every 3rd row to make ridges along the row.

What does purl ridges look like?

How do you do purl ridges?


To do purl ridges you need to know how to knit and purl.

Cast on an odd number of stitches

Row 1: Knit

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: K1, *P1, K1 repeat from * to the end of the row

Row 4: Purl

What can you make using purl ridges?


Using purl ridges you could pretty much knit anything such as a lovely vest, a chunky snood, a throw or a jumper.
