Welcome to what's that stitch series! This is such a fun stitch to knit and I love the pattern it creates.  Chevron seed stitch that creates zig zags along the rows. Learn what chevron seed stitch is, how to do and a few project ideas for using this stitch.

What is chevron seed stitch?


Chevron seed stitch creates zig zags along 4 rows, making a pattern called chevron. This stitch is fun to knit and uses knit and purl stitches. It amazes me how many different stitches there are that just use these two stitches.

How do you do chevron seed stitch?


To do chevron seed stitch you need to know how to knit and purl.

Cast on multiples of eight

Row 1: *P1, K3, repeat from *

Row 2: *K1, P5, K1, P1, repeat from * 

Row 3: *K2, P1, K3, P1, K1, repeat from *

Row 4: *P2, K1, P1, K1, P3, repeat from *

Repeat these four rows

What can you make using chevron seed stitch?


Using chevron seed stitch you could knit a jumper, scarf, blanket, cushion cover or it would also look pretty in a frame on the wall.
