Welcome to what's that stitch series! This is a stitch that looks a bit like a waffle with all of the little squares. Learn what the knitting stitch waffle stitch is, how to do waffle stitch and a few project ideas for using this stitch.





What is waffle stitch?

Waffle stitch looks like a waffle with the little squares it creates, which is how it got its name. It is quite an easy stitch to do as it only uses knit and purl stitches.

How do you do waffle stitch?

To do waffle stitch you need to know how to knit and purl.

Cast on multiples of ten

Row 1: *K2, P1*
Row 2: *k1, p2*
Row 3: *K2, P1*
Row 4: Knit
Repeat these four rows

What can you make using waffle stitch?

There is so much you could make using waffle stitch, you could pretty much make anything. But here are a few ideas blankets, snood, jumpers, phone cover, cushion cover or a tea cozy.
