Simple Garden Scarf Project

Picture of a knitted garden scarf knitting project

I thought I would share the simple garden scarf  I have been knitting.  This scarf pattern I designed when I first started again in my 20's and was the 3rd project I knitted, designed in a simple stocking stitch so I could improve my garter stitch and purl stitches.  Reminding me of the garden paths at the garden I used to visit with family members. I decided to start knitting it again to update the photos of this scarf as the other one I gifted to charity.

Knitted in memory of my family member who I used to go to the garden with and who passed away earlier on this year.

On top of the photo at the top is a white rectangle with the words "knitting journal". Underneath is a sage green rectangle with two white stripes and the words "Project: Simple Garden Scarf" and at the bottom the words "Cozy Woodland Cottage Knits. blogspot.com. End of image description.]

About the project

Scarves are great for cooler weather so I thought I'd start this one and hopefully have it done by the end of autumn, but I just finished it now but that's o.k. I love wearing scarves because they keep you arm but also are a great way to accessorize an outfit. I also feel the cold a lot, there's been hardly any frosts  this winter which is strange but I'm still cold and wearing 3 layers of clothes laughs.

I also wanted to knit this pattern up again to add more information such as yardage, because I used $2 shop yarn it didn't have the yardage/meters information on it nor did I know what yardage was.  I also added the inspiration behind the design and working on it has helped me write the story behind the design. The main inspiration comes from walks through a garden with family. The family member I used to go there with passed away earlier on in the year, which is why its taken me so long to get this scarf done but it's O.K I'll get there grief is just tough some days, it's a process.

This scarf is knitted in memory of them because I couldn't not knit it without thinking of them and the precious memories we shared.  May you be playing in gardens full of your friends the gnomes, having afternoon tea together and plotting your next adventures with them or who is going to take over the garden or guard it on night watch. I'm so thankful for the good times, the precious memories and all the morning teas we had in the garden along with the gardening and planting new flowers or vegies to enjoy or my favourite picking pansies.

Each pattern has always had an inspiration behind it usually in images which I put onto a mood board for each design. I joined Swatch Studio last year to learn more about knitting designed and Francoise at Aroha Knits  talked about adding the story behind the design to the design so your audience can relate to it better. I think it also brings more meaning to the design in a way too, I hope you like it too and you can read about the pattern design story here

Thank you for visiting Cozy Woodland Cottage Knits!

I'll keep updating this knitting journal and try to update it monthly. Happy knitting friends, leave a comment with what is currently on your needles?
