What's that stitch? Garter ridge stitch

Welcome to what's that stitch series! Garter ridge stitch creates ridges of garter stitch every 3 rows.  Creating a horizontal pattern of  raised bumps.  It looks a bit like ploughed fields.  Learn what this stitch is, how to do garter ridge stitch and get few project ideas for using this stitch.

What is Garter ridge stitch?

Garter ridge stitch creates an easy pattern that only uses knit and purl stitches - making this a great way to practice both how to purl and how to knit.  This stitch reminds me of country fields that have been ploughed.  Garter ridge does curl a little bit at the bottom but no where near as much as a stocking stitch.

Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Knit
Repeat these four rows

What can you make using garter ridge stitch?

Using garter ridge stitch you could knit a patchwork blanket, scarf, cushion cover, beanie. This stitch would be look nice on lots of other projects too.
