What's that stitch? Ant egg stitch

Picture of what's that stitch ant egg stitch

Welcome to what's that stitch series! Ant egg stitch creates an interesting diagonal pattern of raised stitches.  The close up reminds me of little stars with the raised stitches forming the edges and the stocking stitch forming the inside of the star.  Learn what this stitch is, how to do ant egg stitch and get few project ideas for using this stitch.

What is Ant egg stitch?

Ant egg stitch creates a thick texture that really shows of the stitch pattern.  It is another easy knitting stitch to do and uses knit, purl and slip stitches - if you've never done slip stitches do not worry they are easier than any other stitch.  An interesting pattern to watch as it forms as you knit.

Please note I mucked up the middle section of mine I think I miss counted my rows, I realized after I casted off.  I could have unpicked it and done it perfectly but everyone makes mistakes in their knitting from time to time and I've decided i'm going to embrace mine.  For those you who are beginner knitters you will make your fair share of mistakes too, it's normal and instead of stressing or being upset you messed it up.

What can you make using ant egg stitch?

Using ant egg stitch you could knit a cardigan, jumper, blanket, beanies, fingerless gloves,  a knitted bag or a cozy knit for winter, perhaps a patchwork blanket.  Here is the close up of my square for my patchwork blanket:
