Here are my book recommendations and reviews for August. I love to read and I've started keeping a list every month along with a reading journal, here are m reviews and recommendations. There's a range of different novels. My Goodreads goal is to read 152 books, currently (as at end of August) I've read about 117. I set a goal to read 2 fiction books every week so 8 books this month but I read 10 instead. My other goal is to read 2 non-fiction books in a month but like last month I didn't finish reading any non-fiction books.

Property of a Noblewoman by Danielle Steel
⭐⭐⭐⭐stars
This was quite a good book. At first, I thought it was really boring with court clerk Jane Willoughby's job. I kept reading it. Then things get interesting with an abandoned safe-box in a New York City bank is opened to reveal a treasure trove - a bundle of old letters, photographs and a collection of priceless jewellery. Among the stunning jewels are a wedding ring and a locket with a baby photograph in it. But there is no will in the box, nor anything that refers to a next of kin. Court clerk, Jane Willoughby's job is to discover more about the mystery of the box's owner. She discovers that she was Marguerite Wallace Pearson di San Pignelli, who married an Italian count and lived in a chateau in Naples until he died when she returned permanently to the States. She is no longer living, and Jane is sad to think that these most precious possessions are to be sold off. Jane arranges for the jewellery to be valued by Christie's auctioneer Philip Lawton, in preparation for a sale. Thrown together, Jane and Philip's curiosity about Marguerite's story grows and changes their lives forever. This novel didn’t disappoint and I never expected the story to turn out how it did such an interesting turn of events in the persons family history and family. I loved this book!

Miles from Nowhere by Amy Clipston
⭐⭐⭐⭐stars
This was another good book in this series, I’ve enjoyed reading it.
Chelsea dreams to become a fashion designer and is the head drama club costume designer and organiser. She longs to fit in and when she is invited to her first drama club parties that she’d never been invited to before she ends up going. She soon gives in to peer pressure and starts drinking, sneaking out of the house and her life begins to fall apart her bf doesn’t know who she is anymore and covers for her at work when she turns up late. They have arguments and they end up breaking up and Chelsea ends up loosing her job as she slept in and once again is drunk/hungover. Eventually after a drunken accident she learns where she’s meant to be who her true friends are and her and her ex bf end up sorting things out between them.
This book addresses the many challenges, struggles teenagers deal with in terms of peer pressure, trying to fit in, teenage drinking, love, friendships responsibilities, dangers of drinking and driving etc. A lot of lessons were learnt in this book which also highlights how horribly wrong things could have gone too and how true friends stick around and will be there for you too.

Love in Store (Amish Market) by Vannetta Chapman
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐stars
Another great book by Vannetta Chapman!
Two middle aged Amish employees Stella Schrock and David Stoltzfus, a recent widower both work at the Old Mill in Nappanee, Indiana. Suddenly strange happenings begin occurring around town, it appears as if someone wants to close the mill. Is it just pranks or something else? Stella and David work together to solve the mystery of what is happening at the Old Amish Mill, and in the process hold strong to their faith and find just what God has in store for them.
I loved how this novel combined both the mystery story and Amish story together, creating an awesome Amish mystery. A great book to grab a cuppa and sit in a cozy nook and read.

Where We Belong by Anstey Harris
⭐⭐⭐⭐stars
Wow what a story this one was!
Enjoyable, fascinating, quirky story.
Cate and her son upon falling on hard times move into an apartment at the top of the building. Cate hates being there to start with but soon falls in love with the place and becomes determine to do all she can to ensure it remains open.
In the beginning I wasn’t too sure what age Leo was but soon realised he was older than I’d originally thought. Maybe due to how protective etc his mother Cate is of him etc. Araminta was an interesting character who was keeping Cate away while growing fond of Leo despite not seeming to want Cate around. She guards her secret she was determined to keep it, along with other secrets the museum hold too.
Life is full of its ups and downs and this story portrays these throughout it. I’d recommend to anyone who loves a quirky, mystery.
