What's that stitch - Farrow rib

Welcome to what's that stitch series! This is a stitch that creates a different kind of rib it reminds me of ploughed fields. Learn what farrow rib is, how to do  and a few project ideas for using this stitch.

What is farrow rib?


Farrow rib creates a textured rib that looks a bit like ploughed fields. This rib is easy to learn, creates a different texture than plain rib.

How do you do farrow rib?


To do farrow rib you need to know how to knit and purl.

Cast on multiples of three

Row 1: *K2, P1, repeat from*

Repeat this row

What can you make using farrow rib?


Using farrow rib you knit the cuffs on sweaters, neckbands, gloves, socks or beanies.  You could knit a dishcloth, scarf, snood or boot cuff.
