Free quick and easy curtain tie pattern

Do you need to keep your curtains tied back? Looking for curtain ties?  This free knitting pattern for quick and easy to make curtain ties will be perfect.  I needed something to keep the curtains back so my children didn't play in them.  I wanted something that was quick and easy to make so I designed this knitting pattern for curtain ties.


What can you use this pattern for? 

All knitting patterns copyrighted under the New Zealand copy right Act 1994.  Knitting patterns are for personal use only. Curtain ties

Garter stitch curtain tie

Size: 

approx 28cm when done up

You will need:

50 gram ball of aran (it will make a few as they use approx 10grams of yarn)
4mm needles
2 buttons

You will need to know how to:

Cast on
Knit
yarn forward (yfd) or here is How to do a yfd in 5 easy steps
Cast off

Pattern:

Cast on 16 sitches
Knit 64 rows
Button hole row: k7, yfd, k2tog, k7
knit 6rows
Cast off, thread in the ends and add the button.

Hurdle stitch curtain tie

Size: 

approx 28cm when done up

You will need:

4mm needles
2 buttons

You will need to know how to:

Cast on
Knit
Purl
yarn forward (yfd) or here is How to do a yfd in 5 easy steps
Cast off

Hurdle stitch:

Row 1 & 2: Knit
Row 3 & 4: Knit 1, Purl 1


Repeat these four rows 

Pattern:

Cast on 16 sitches
Knit 64 rows in hurdle stitch
Button hole row: k7, yfd, k2tog, k7
if your not sure how to do a yfd see:
knit 6rows

Cast off, thread in the ends and add the button.

  1. What a practical solution, I've made quick tie backs with ribbon before but never thought to knit them. The textures are great.
