What's that stitch - seed stitch simple

Welcome to what's that stitch! This stitch creates a 3D texture of little raised purl stitches. Learn what the knitting stitch seed stitch simple is, how to do seed stitch simple and a few project ideas for using this stitch. 



What is seed stitch simple?

Seed stitch simple is an easy stitch suitable for beginners who know how to knit and purl.  It creates little dots of seed stitch on a stocking stitch background.

How do you do seed stitch simple?


To do seed stitch simple cast on multiples of four eg. 8, 12

Row 1: *K3, P1*

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: Knit

Row 4: Purl

Row 5: K1, *P1, K3*, P1, K2

Row 6: Purl

Row 7: Knit

Repeat these seven rows

As it curls up I added a knitted boarder around mine, here is the square I knitted.

What can you make using seed stitch simple?


Seed stitch simple would look lovely on a jumper, headband, scarf, blanket or a bunting.
