Free bracelet pattern

Looking for something a bit different but simple?  Bracelets are a great way to jazz up an outfit, they look great by them self or stacked.  Here is two versions of the bracelet along with photos of what the bracelet looks like at the different steps.






What can you use this pattern for?

Bracelet version 1

You will need:

10 grams of 8ply yarn
4 1/2mm needles (you can use double pointed needles or straight needles) 

Cast on 8sts 
Knit an I cord until the bracelet will fit around the widest part of your hand.  Don't forget to keep pulling tight as you go.

Cast off


Thread in the ends and stitch the cast on and cast off edges together.

Bracelet version 2

You will need:

10 grams of 8ply yarn
4 1/2mm needles (you can use double pointed needles or straight needles) 
Buttons (1 for each bracelet you would like to make). 

Cast on 8sts 
Knit an I cord until the bracelet will fit around your wrist
(If you aren't too sure how to make an I cord see our step by step How to do an I cord) Don't forget to keep pulling tight as you go.

Working back and forth (how you normally knit) knit 4 rows
Knit 3sts, yard foward, k2tog and knit to end.
Knit 3 rows
Cast off

Thread in the ends and stitch on the button.  You could stitch the sides on either side of the button hole, I just folded it and it has stayed in place though that may vary with the type of yarn used.

Making the bracelet

Both of these versions start out the same. When you start making them they don't look quite right so if it looks like the photo below, don't worry or unpick it will come right

After knitting a few more rows, it should look like this photo below, if not pull the yarn tighter at the back to close up the gap:

Add the button and here is the finished bracelet ready to put on and wear :-)
